How to program a Toyota G Chip Key using xtool D8 04
There are two methods to select vehicle
By type and By Vehicle
How to program a Toyota G Chip Key using xtool D8 05
Method 1: By type
You can click By type if you know the type. Then select Immobilizer, you have got to know the type that you’re dealing with.
For example, we want to program a G chip key, then we can select “Type 3 (“4D” 66/70/72 “G”)

Method 2: By Vehicle
For this truck, we select Americas>> TACOMA>> 2011-2015>> Without smart>> Immobiliser>> Erase keys
Read the note of Erase keys as below.
1 sub master key is needed to erase or add other keys.
How to identify a sub master key or valet key?
-Insert key into ignition, if security light did not flash, it is a sub master key; if it flash for 1 sex and then turn off, it is a valet key.
Then click “Yes” to continue
Read another note of Erase keys.
This method can erase all stored keys in memory except the sub master key that is in the ignition. Note: Each procedure must be completed within a specified time. Otherwise, erasing will fail. Then click “Yes” to continue
Perform the following operation within 120 secs, press “OK” to continue.
1.Remove the key from igniton
2.Insert a programmed sub master key switch ignition to “On” position
Then click “OK” to next step
Successfully erase the keys.

Step 2: Add key
Select Add a key
Read the notes same as erase keys carefully and click “Yes” to continue
Insert a programmed sub master key and switch ignition to “On” position, then press “Yes” to continue
Insert the key you wish to program and do not switch ignition to “On” position
Wait for the security light to turn off, and the program is complete
Repeat the same steps to add other two keys
Done!

Besides that, you also can use another path to program keys.
In the home menu, select AUTO SCAN >> USA>> Hydro Type Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)>> Confirm the vehicle info >> System Selection>> Immobiliser >> Read the note carefully >> Special Functions>> Transponder Code Registration>> Press “OK

Complete all steps on the screen as below
Step 1: Perform the following operation
1.Remove the key from the key Cylinder
2.Insert the key back into the key Cylinder within 120 seconds, then press “OK”
Step 2: Remove the master key from the key Cylinder within 20 seconds, then press “OK”
Step 3: Insert the key you want to program with 10 seconds, then press OK. Do not turn the ignition switch on!

If it says the transponder code registration has failed, the reason is that the key is already programmed. If it wasn’t programmed, you will see a 75 seconds countdown and then it’ll say program successful.

Press OK and insert a registered master key into the key cylinder and turn the ignition switch ON. If the ignition is already ON, please turn the ignition switch OFF, and ON again.

Alright! That’s the whole guide to program a G chip key for a Toyota Tacoma by using Xtool D8.

Reviews 1.  Already saving me money, right out of the box.

Let me start by saying, this tool has now become my best friend. I take it everywhere I go. I use it to help all my coworkers and family. I don't believe all mechanics are dishonest, but on the same coin, I don't believe they are all honest. I have been a mechanic for 30 + years and to finally have my own scan tool that actually works. I have always used the shop scanner and could never afford those expensive ones. I bit the bullet and bought this one and have no regrets. Thank you very much

Reviews 2. Great machine at great price and value!

The scanner is awesome! Works the same as the Toyota Tech just it is a lot faster. Works on new Acura MDX like a charm. Great value for the money and great are easy to use the software.

Reviews 3. Bi-Directional OBD code reader at an affordable price!

I'm a home mechanic responsible for keeping 4 cars safely on the road. With my family somedays this should be a full time job!! I got tired of the parts cannon approach and finally bit the bullet and got a bi-directional code reader. I saw a xTool's D7 review on youtube and thought it was what I was looking for. I noticed the D8 while looking for D7's and I don't know what the exact differences are but the D8 has been great. Used it to track down a bad IAC servo on our 2001 subaru forester which saved me a bunch on NOT having to buy injectors that were not bad! I would recommend this OBDii tool for sure. I would recommend watching South Main Auto Repair on YouTube for great lessons on tracking down faulty compoents and wires!!

Reviews 4. The Xtool D8 auto scanner has the best and latest specifications for the amature car mechanic

This 2021 D8 unit has most of the required service action requirements to work on the family car or to understand what type of service the average owner will need from the service department with out being taken advantaged of. Updates are simple one button. Selection of make/model is another one button. For the price, it supplies the necessary work without the high end price of the competition. Exchange with Xtool by email to answer a question are usually one or two days. They even respond back on Saturdays. Remember that they are half way around the world but next door with customer service.

Reviews 5. Value for the price

As a ASE certified master mechanic I have used Snap On, OTC, etc. I wanted a unit for my home box for personal use and looked at the reviews on You Tube and thought I would give this unit a try. The price with updates was an incentive to try it and I am glad I did. Quite frankly it works and it works well. So far I have used it on two of my cars, one tracking down an O2 sensor problem and the unit worked as well as any other I have used. I ran it side by side with the Snap On and received identical information. I am impressed with the quality of the unit and would recommend purchasing the XTOOL D8.

Reviews 4.

I just ordered a spare key for my 2019 Chevy Express and I can't wait to get it so I can use the key programming feature to program the key which will save me around $60-70 for this type of vehicle/key.

Xtool D8 is an impressive car scanner that can handle a lot of things and then some. As a DIYer, I get lost in some of its features which means a more knowledgeable DIYer or a professional can take advantage of everything Xtool D8 has to offer, save time, figure and solve car problems much faster, etc.

Instead of going by my words, you can probably get a much better idea about this car scanner from the many pictures I took while going through the menu then hooking the D8 to the OBD2 port and eventually starting the engine too for the many things you can do/see live.

It has over 30 special functions and covers a multitude of car brands all over the world. Still, if you want to make sure your car supports a certain feature to be performed, do what I did - email XTOOL and ask.

I hope the pictures I took will help you see more than I can say. Have a great day!
